This piece is devoted to womanhood. I took inspiration from the countless ideas about and thoughts regarding what it means to be a woman. And I realize that even within my own mind it is constantly evolving and a new layer is added from time to time. But this is where I was in that 2 month period when I was sketching, collaging, painting and creating. Dream Mother is the thoughts and the feelings that were within me during that point of my life.

And the tree – I just keep coming back to trees. I think it’s because they represent so many good things like strength, change, growth, life, etc. And for me, this solitary tree glowing with candles was the perfect vessel for the scenes and vignettes I was creating. The warmth, the strength, the love - I wanted these things to be centered in the piece.
